West Opens Expanded Dublin Facility to Support High-Volume Injectable Therapies, Including Diabetes

West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. (NYSE: WST), a global leader in innovative solutions for injectable drug administration, announced today the opening of its new building at its Damastown site, Dublin. The 165,000 square foot expansion significantly enhances West’s contract services and is designed to meet growing global demands of its customers’ high-volume treatments, including diabetes and obesity.

330 jobs have been created as part of the expansion of the manufacturing site and West now employs over 1,400 people in Ireland across its Dublin and Waterford sites.

Speaking at the opening, Jack Chambers TD, Minister for Public Expenditure, Infrastructure, Public Service Reform and Digitalisation, said: “This announcement by West is an extremely welcome development for the local community, and also for our vibrant national life sciences sector. The expansion here in Damastown, Dublin 15 has created 330 highly-skilled jobs to meet the increasing global demand for diabetes and obesity treatments, and patient-focused drug delivery solutions. These engineering and technical roles will provide exciting new career opportunities for local people including graduates of nearby universities.”

“West is honoured to continue supporting our customers in providing reliable, high-quality drug delivery solutions and security of supply,” said Aileen Ruff-Patry, President of Contract Manufacturing. “This expansion increases our global capacity to support drug handling for high-volume injectable therapies, including next-generation GLP-1 treatments. This reinforces West’s role as a critical partner in helping to secure patient access to these essential medicines.”

Michael Lohan, CEO of IDA Ireland, said: “This significant investment by West demonstrates the strength of Ireland’s value proposition as a location for innovation and large scale, high-value manufacturing projects, supported by a skilled workforce and collaborative ecosystem. The area of health and developments in medical technology are a key growth driver in IDA Ireland’s strategy and investments such as this showcase our potential.”

As demand for complex injectable drug delivery systems continues to grow, access to integrated development and commercialization services to support these products becomes increasingly critical.  The Damastown expansion enhances West’s contract capabilities beyond its component molding, device assembly, and packaging to now include advanced automation and expanded drug-handling capabilities at commercial scale.

The work at this site is part of West Vantage™, the company’s comprehensive contract services business.  West Vantage™ provides customers with a single-source solution spanning product conceptualization, development, device manufacturing and assembly, packaging, validation, analytical testing, and regulatory support.
