  • Headcount of 500 people expected at the Cork office by 2025
  • Company joins a local ecosystem of 100+ tech companies

Cork has become the global hub of choice for international headquarters of technology companies, home to over 100 technology companies. With over 40,000 students across Cork’s two universities, NetApp’s decision to base its international headquarters in Cork provides access to a talent pool that is truly worthy of supporting the robust and evolving technology market. As well as being a part of the vibrant emerging business scene in Cork, NetApp’s hybrid working model means there are opportunities for technical and non-technical candidates across Ireland.

NetApp

NetApp provides data storage and data management services for on-premises, public, and hybrid cloud infrastructures. It was founded in California in 1992 and, during the initial internet boom of that decade, quickly grew into a $1 billion company.

Choosing Ireland as a European HQ

A recent arrival into Ireland, in 2022 NetApp set up its European headquarters in Cork, as part of growing its international presence. The company announced that it would create 500 jobs, to be filled within three years. Its Irish office is in Navigation Square within Cork's Docklands, Ireland's largest and most ambitious urban regeneration project.

NetApp chose Ireland for its European base due to its access to the EU market, availability of talent, economic and geopolitical stability, and the support of IDA Ireland, together with the presence of peer companies around the city of Cork, these were key considerations.

Settling in Cork’s technology community

Since recruitment began in January 2022, NetApp filled 200 posts in just 18 months following a successful PR campaign to build up the company’s brand in Cork. NetApp is now a recognised name in Cork’s tech community. NetApp Cork has recruited predominantly from the greater Cork area, with most employees living within commuting distance.
